Abstract

Spanish Modernisme [Modernism] was a movement in Spain and Latin America during the latter part of the nineteenth century and the early parts of the twentieth. It included the psychedelic works of Antoni Gaudi who created some incredible architecture and artwork. Also during this time Pablo Picasso was engaging in creating paintings and sculptures. Latin American author Rubio Dario is credited with beginning the modernist movement. This paper will also address why modernism is important and if it should be offered in coursework. There will also be several case studies.
