Abstract
The maritime industry places unique occupational requirements on those the industry employs. Long working hours, time away from home, inconsistent sleep patterns, and hazardous working conditions all add to the development of fatigue at sea. The high prevalence of fatigue at sea in the maritime industry is being increasingly recognized as a significant contributor to maritime accidents.
