Abstract
Anxiety among the older adult population is a major presenting factor to mental health care providers. Initial treatment usually includes antidepressants and anxiolytics. The most commonly prescribed anxiolytics are benzodiazepines (BZDs) which can cause falls in the older adult.The use of BZDs is quickly becoming a major modifiable cause for falls among the older adult population.
