Abstract

GLP-1 RA Injection Is One of The Best Ways to Lower Hemoglobin A1c

In the United States, there is an increasing number of the adult population with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM II).1 Some patients may not know the seriousness of type 2 diabetes with a higher level of hemoglobin A1c. There are eight-core defects in type 2 diabetes. It is called Ominous Octet by Dr. Ralph De Fonzo indicating the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes.2 There are six out of eight core defects related to GLP-1.2 Only one medication besides insulin available to patients. The long chemical compound named Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) injection, which is the mainstay treatment of type 2 diabetes.3 This compound has a long duration of action.3 This medication is not only lowering hemoglobin a1c, but it also decreases weight gain, reduces cardiovascular disease (CVD), and lowers the risk of hypoglycemia. 1,3,4
