Abstract
Chronic wounds create a challenging reality for both patients and providers. Early and rapid healing of chronic wounds comes from an understanding of the patient’s complete health assessment, the wound’s etiology, and applying the correct treatment. This manuscript reviews the efficient and effective management of chronic wounds by understanding the etiology and physiology of the wound, formulating a diagnosis, preparing the wound bed and selecting the best treatment options while considering new developments in the field of wound management.
