Abstract
ABSTRACT
Purpose: To identify if there is a correlation between time spent on clinical rotations and board pass rates.
Method: A literature review was conducted using PubMed and EBSCOhost searching for full text articles written within the past five years. Search terms included: PANCE pass rates, SCPE length, Medical school clerkship length, board pass rates, NCLEX pass rates, nursing clinical lengths.
Results: While there is still more research needed in this area, there was no significant correlation between clinical rotation lengths and board pass rates amongst medical students or nursing students.
Conclusion: The results of this literature review suggest no correlation between clinical rotation length and board pass rates. By examining both medical programs and one nursing program, it can be concluded that PA students should perform as well on their PANCE with the limited clinical hours from the COVID-19 pandemic.
