Abstract
Acne vulgaris can be detrimental to one’s livelihood to include: permanent scarring, anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts. There are numerous treatment modalities available for clinicians to utilize. In order to achieve optimal therapy, clinicians must understand the severity-based approach of treatment, side effects, and pathophysiology of acne vulgaris. Despite uniform guidelines that remain unchanged, prescribing variability has been noted, further emphasizing a need for educational intervention.
