Abstract
ABSTRACT
Purpose: This article aims to review the importance of adopting a preventive model approach to preventing chronic disease rather than a reactive approach to treating the disease.
Method: A PubMed literature search was conducted with search terms prevention, chronic disease, socio-economic, non-communicable disease, and risk factors. Fifteen pertinent articles were retrieved and served as the basis for this clinical review.
Results: A evidence-based research demonstrates the positive correlation between health and economic benefits of adopting a preventive model approach to preventing chronic disease.
Conclusion: Adopting a preventive medicine model will help to prevent the onset of chronic disease, reduce personal and economic burdens and allow patients to live healthier lives.
