Abstract

ABSTRACT

Purpose: This article aims to review the importance of adopting a preventive model approach to preventing chronic disease rather than a reactive approach to treating the disease.

Results: A evidence-based research demonstrates the positive correlation between health and economic benefits of adopting a preventive model approach to preventing chronic disease.

Conclusion: Adopting a preventive medicine model will help to prevent the onset of chronic disease, reduce personal and economic burdens and allow patients to live healthier lives.

Keywords: Prevention, Chronic disease, Risk factors, Non-communicable disease, socio-economic.
