Abstract
Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FENO) testing is a new form of lung function testing. It is used alongside spirometry to diagnose and monitor asthma. The uptake of this new technology has been slow in all healthcare settings, particularly primary care. This article reviews the fundamentals of FENO testing, including a background to the test, guidelines for use, and interpretation of the results.
