Abstract

This article aims to review the effects of restricting access to abortion as a treatment due to the overturning Roe vs Wade on June 24th, 2022, a U.S. Supreme Court decision made in 1973 that allowed women a right to an abortion. Overturning consequences effect women of childbearing age for elective abortions. This can cause emotional instability and unsafe abortive practices, which can lead to an increase in mortality rates. Further research will be needed to evaluate the effects of what is to come with maternal mortality and depression in patients seeking abortive management. The patient population’s access to abortion is banned, but it is not nationwide it is still legal in many states.1
