Abstract
The postpartum triathlete faces unique challenges and considerations when returning to sport. These challenges present an opportunity for the medical community to create a multidisciplinary approach to assist women during this period, ultimately ensuring a safe and supported return to sport. Based on research and best practice, an interdisciplinary approach ensures that each athlete will have early screening for pelvic floor dysfunction, improved mental health screening, and a rehabilitation team trained on safe postpartum return-to-play protocols. These protocols target triathletes, including swimming, cycling, and running considerations. This article provides an essential tool kit for working with the postpartum triathlete and a subsequent call for further research on this under-studied population.
