Abstract
Chlorthalidone is recommended as the preferred diuretic therapy for primary hypertension. However, results from multiple studies suggest an equivalent response when compared to hydrochlorothiazide. A review of recent studies will help clinicians choose whether chlorthalidone or hydrochlorothiazide is the preferred diuretic therapy.
