Abstract
The focus of this review is to summarize the key components of neurological history-taking and examination for the non-neurology physician associate (PA). Neurological symptoms are common and can present in any healthcare setting, particularly urgent care clinics, primary care offices, and emergency departments. It is essential that non-neurology providers be able to confidently and effectively perform neurological examinations and gather a history efficiently, and several studies have demonstrated the lack of education and training on these important skills. This review will outline the fundamental physical examination and history-taking skills required to appropriately assess a patient with neurological symptoms.
