Abstract

Endometriosis affects approximately 10% of women of reproductive age worldwide, yet many wait years for a diagnosis. During this time, they experience chronic pain, struggle with infertility, and see their quality of life steadily decline. Because endometriosis presents differently in every patient, diagnosis proves challenging and treatment even more so. This review examines current evidence on endometriosis, how it develops, how it manifests clinically, how clinicians diagnose it, then finally focuses on management options. While recent guidelines have evolved for both diagnosis and treatment, significant challenges remain. The purpose of this study is to bring together current evidence to help guide clinical practice while noting where knowledge gaps remain. By identifying what is known and what still needs to be learned, this manuscript aims to promote better, more personalized care for women living with this condition.
