Abstract

Musicians on the battlefield may have been a big reason to our victory, during the American Revolutionary war. The revolutionary war has been a topic in schools here and around Europe, as it had impacted the world. Considered to be a World War, the American Revolution changed the dynamics between countries that existed during the 1700s and today. Of course, we are all taught the major battles that took place; we were informed of the individuals who had key roles in this war, we were taught why we wrote our documents (Declaration of Independence and the Constitution). We were unprepared, and unorganized, yet we as Americans found a way to beat the most powerful empire during that time. Musicians are not mentioned; their music may have been heard during demonstrations. Musicians play a huge role in organizing regiments, playing as the generals’ most trustworthy individuals. Without musicians, we may not have had the time and force to push the British away. How musicians interacted with the army, and on the battlefield, will be analyzed and shown. Very famous American songs were written during this time, and were used during warfare. Musicians tend to be targeted by the enemy first, to destroy moral and organization. Musicians play important roles, and play even harder on the field.
