Abstract
From June 2017 until January 2018, I interned in the Centra healthcare system. I accumulated 120 hours of observation in multiple health care disciplines at Lynchburg General, Virginia Baptist, and Bedford Memorial Hospitals as well as some other Centra Health Facilities.
I observed physicians and other healthcare specialists in the general Emergency Department, Plastic Surgery, Anesthesiology, Clinical Oncology and Orthopedic Surgery, just to name a few. I kept a journal for each day of my internships, and learned a lot about the various disciplines. This internship was beneficial as it exposed me to many areas of health care. This allowed me to determine which areas of medicine I would be most interested in pursuing in the future. In this poster, I will present the areas that I found most interesting and some things that I learned along the way.
