Abstract

This semester, I completed an internship at Libbey Family Dentistry in Forest, VA. My roles and responsibilities during my internship included observing various dental procedures such as restorative work (crowns, fillings, bridges, etc.), denture and night guard delivery, hygiene, and instrument sterilization. I learned how to assist dental procedures and have assisted procedures such as occlusal fillings and extractions. My internship prepared me for dental school because I learned about all aspects of the profession. I have learned about practice and patient management, and have observed most dental procedures which general dentists perform. I have also learned about OSHA regulations, as well as chairside manner. During my time at Libbey Family Dentistry, I discovered my true passion, and what I aspire for my career to be- general dentistry.
