Abstract

This study will be looking at how the introduction of nuclear weapons and their has impacted the relations between India and Pakistan. Has the region become more stable because of the introduction? If the introduction of nuclear weapons stabilizes relations between states, this could be exported to other hot spot regions of the world such as the Middle East and North East Asia. The history of the two states will be explored to see how the escalations of conflicts pair up with when the nuclear weapons were introduced in order to see if there is a correlation. The data revealed that following the implementation of the nuclear weapons, there was a sharp decrease in the scope of the war found immediately after and since then, there has be no war between the two states. This shows that there is a strong influence from the presence of nuclear weapon sin the region that the states are avoiding and large scale war.
