Abstract

Music plays a role in the environment of most bars and restaurants and people like to hear music that they enjoy. It can be challenging for a bar/restaurant to please its crowd with music selection, because it is tough to know what the guests want to hear and different guests will often have different music tastes. Some establishments hire DJs, other live music, or just play the music of their choosing. Problems can arise if customers do not enjoy the music being played by any of those means, and these problems can be tough to resolve and can be bad for business. I am developing an application called “mify” intended to provide a simple way to give each guest the opportunity to play a part of controlling the music through a queue of songs.

There have been some applications developed with the same basic idea as mine in that the guests have some control over the music, but not in the same way that my application will function. The intention of mify is to provide any bar/restaurant a simple way to satisfy its customers with the music played. Equal opportunity for each customer of the control of the application’s queue should provide maximum group optimization in the music selection.
