Abstract
College retention rates have become a popular topic amid declining retention and rising time to degree completion. My research seeks to determine which factors have the greatest impact on First-Year to Second-Year student retention at the University of Lynchburg. I will construct a logit model utilizing demographic and survey-based response data from the University’s database to predict determinants of student retention. I find First Semester Program declaration, the gap between Financial Aid received and Tuition cost, High School GPA, and Desire to Transfer significant at the 0.05 significance level. The results of this analysis provide insight into factors impacting student retention rates at the University of Lynchburg.
