Abstract

By performing a literature review and population analysis of the past five years of the European football transfer market, I will examine how the pandemic has affected the movement of players between teams. I will compare the larger teams who normally finish in high positions in the table earning more revenue to smaller teams who run their club comparably to a business. By asking the question of how finances will be impacted by the pandemic, it allows for a look at spending trends and trajectory of net spending and how it will be impacted by COVID-19. By gathering this data and coupling it with the larger or smaller teams, I will infer how future spending will change because of this.
