Abstract
The human body is not symmetric but asymmetric. Though humans have two eyes, ears, arms, hands, legs, and feet, it appears to be a symmetric system. Neurological and respiratory systems are not the same on the left side compared to the right. It may lead to changes in other physiological functions and affect the treatment plan for the same orthopedic conditions. The Postural Restoration Institute (PRI) introduced the concept of asymmetry among the human bodies, mainly including the neurological and respiratory parts. The PRI techniques are designed to improve the functioning of the musculoskeletal system and to restore balance and alternative movements of the body. The PRI approach is becoming increasingly popular in the field of rehabilitation and prevention for treating orthopedic conditions, such as chronic low back pain, hip osteoarthritis, and shoulder impingement syndrome. The goal of this critical appraisal is to examine the evidence regarding the effectiveness of PRI techniques in treating orthopedic conditions.
