Abstract

The correspondence between age and crime is something that needs to be researched more. Crime and age correspondence shows the different crimes and at what ages they are committed. The purpose of this research is to find out if juveniles or adults commit more crimes and if they are serious crimes or not. Serious crimes are those that are violent or result in a significant loss of an item. The data shows that most crimes are committed by eighteen and older people. Although more crimes are committed in the adult years, they are more serious crimes. Juveniles are likely to commit more status offense crimes in their young years because the punishments won’t be as bad. Along with this, it is also important to look into what may cause these people to commit these crimes. The way that they were raised and grew up may have affected them, or there may be something that affected them and made them go down the road of crime. When looked at, the data also shows that once someone is incarcerated, they are more likely to re-offend after being released. Many different factors can affect why or when someone commits a crime.
