Abstract

Health education is a valuable resource that healthcare facilities use. Depending on the literacy and competency level of the patient, the understanding of education can be challenging. If a patient is unable to understand the health education further complications can arise. Through research that is specific to the Free Clinic of Central Virginia, education leaflets were created to condense and provide a lower literacy level to ensure all patients can understand the main diseases that are affecting Lynchburg. Through this project, patients can understand their disease, specific signs and symptoms associated with it, what to look out for, and healthy lifestyle changes.
