Abstract

Writing is a skill that holds extreme importance. No longer does writing only mean using pencil and paper to go through the process and create a written final copy. Writing can be developed and published using digital tools as well. With this evolution of technology, our teaching methods must evolve as well to learn and include this technology as a way of supporting learning. Within this session, participants will see how writing is typically taught (using the writing process) and how this typical instruction can be changed to include technology. The participants will be provided with recommendations for integrating technology into their writing instruction. This presentation will be based on several studies that show positive effects of using technology to support writing instruction as well as my own experiences using technology in the classroom.
