Abstract
In the elementary grade levels, teachers have the opportunity to provide young readers with comprehension skills that will enhance their understanding and enjoyment of reading as their decoding skills increase, starting as early as Kindergarten. During this session, participants will hear research on the reciprocal teaching method and its use for teaching and reinforcing reading comprehension strategies in elementary grades. Educators will also participate in collaborative activities to evaluate student work examples and plan for their own classroom needs. Educators will leave with practices and strategies that can be efficiently implemented into their reading blocks.
